This is the window of the John Bale bookstore in Waterbury, Connecticut. In the reflection you can see the image of the City Hall, which was designed by architect Cass Gilbert back in the day. The sign is tantalizing--and mean when the neon is off and this girl wants a hot cuppa.

we can't have you going around without a cuppa of joe, so i will get you a thermos so you will never be with out... :-)
ReplyDeleteThat dark 'OPEN' and Coffee Cup are too sad for words. A perfect subject for Wordless Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteI do love window reflection art. As a girl I was mesmerized by reflections and shadows and would wonder which world was really real the physical or the reflection of it.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, the cup makes me crave a cuppa....tea!
I hope you got your coffee.
ReplyDeleteLooks dull w/o the neon lights blinking. I'm sure it looks better in the night :) Though the night it might not reflect CityHall in the glass.
ReplyDeleteThat definitely would get the message across when lit up. Great location, right across the street from City Hall.
ReplyDeleteI love the reflection on the sign. And I love bookstores.
ReplyDeleteYes!!!!!Please do:) Happy WW.
ReplyDeleteoh well, where's the thermos when you need it?
ReplyDeleteA cool coffee/open sign!
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done. I can almost smell coffee.
ReplyDeletesuperbly composed picture!
ReplyDeletehad a good coffee?
I like the way you can see city hall reflected in the window. I would want the coffee sign on all the time as I'm a big coffee drinker.
ReplyDeletereflective, Sandy! Aloha-
ReplyDeleteYou can't miss it when the neon sign is on at night!
ReplyDeleteThrilling composition, Sandy.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a good coffee there.
Very retro!
ReplyDeletehappy WW!
ReplyDeleteThe reflection in the window and the shop's neon design make this such a neat photograph: I'm torn between going in for the coffee or turning around to enjoy the sunshine, and then wow, I feel I'm on the street there with you.
ReplyDeleteC'mon, let's go in for the cuppa...
LOL!
We don't even have a bookshop in our town (that kills me slowly you know) --enjoy yours for me!
We don't have a bookstore heer either. But there is a big one in Rotterdam several storeys high and in the top they have a little bagel restaurant and... coffeee!
ReplyDeleteMy morning drink is diet Coke -- and if I don't get one -- watch out! Love the reflections in the photo.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing sadder than a closed coffee bar!
ReplyDeleteReminded me of days of old ... blending into today. It's more beautiful than sad, I think?
ReplyDeleteOhh, I feel your pain.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me want to be a coffee drinker.
ReplyDeleteTerrific shot...great reflections!
ReplyDeleteReflections can be so annoying OR great fun to work with. This one in terrific. But oh no, a closed bookstore/coffee house?! Please tell me it opened a minute later.
ReplyDeleteGreat light! I just love the old classic signs and new retro-look ones. But nothing makes the heart sink like finding your favorite cafe stop closed!
ReplyDeleteIt is not nice for the sign to be off if you're having a craving. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! - love your title!
ReplyDeleteThat's just what I need right now !
ReplyDeleteHi ~ I love neon lights and the retro look. I never should have started drinking coffee since now I am a bear if I don't have a cup when I first wake up! Happy Wordless Wednesday to you!
ReplyDeleteOh! No! Closed? That is a disappointment but not the shot.
ReplyDeleteMMmmmmm.....the picture is enticing!!
ReplyDeleteOh that is just too cruel. Show you just enough to get you excited, and than BAM! Slam the door shut. Not fair. Not fair at all.
ReplyDeleteThat clock below is amazing! It looks so elegant and old! And is this post an invitation for coffee? If I wasn't so far away, I would come!!!
ReplyDeleteNeat pic-and nothing like a good hot cuppa!
ReplyDeletethat coffee shop must be humming with activity when open... especially with the city hall in front!... i like the idea of overlapping images --- like a palimpsest :)...
ReplyDeleteOhhh now I want a coffee. I love all the layers of images. The sign, the shop, and the reflection. Interesting composition. Happy WW!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting play with light. I'm ready for a cuppa!
ReplyDeleteBtw, I tagged you for on my blog for a writers meme. Play if you feel like it!
Great photo.
ReplyDeletei need to have coffee later. you made me go for it.
ReplyDeleteI love the window reflection. How dare they not provide you with your cuppa?!! :)
ReplyDeleteSo much to see in one single shot!
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice sign. Hope you were able to fulfill your coffee craving that day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being here.
