While my daughter was at choir practice on Tuesday, I went for a walk around Waterbury. The day was bright and clear and my sights were up when I took in this view of the top of what was the Masonic Temple but is now the Mattatuck Museum. The oxidized copper was bright and vivid against the blue of the late afternoon sky.

Good Morning ~ I love the way you view the world - from many different positions, with a clear lens and always a new perspective! Thank you for helping me to open my eyes. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeletefun photo, like the angle and colors...masons were early temple builders and have many symbols on/in their buildings. a fascinating book you'd probably enjoy is Matthew B. Brown and Paul Thomas Smith, "The Salt Lake Temple," Symbols in Stone : Symbolism on the Early Temples of the Restoration about mormon temples.
ReplyDeleteWow. The contrast is so good in this I had to double check to make sure that wasn't a clipping path along the edge!
ReplyDeleteMarvelous!
What a beautiful contrast!
ReplyDeleteGreat capture, Sandy! :)
ReplyDeleteMarvelous shot!
ReplyDeleteSandi
I love the way you see the little beautiful details that would normally have not been seen by the normal eye
ReplyDeleteFascinating!!! I would love to see such a clear blue sky over here!
ReplyDeleteGood eye! This did make a great photo.
ReplyDeleteI always love that green patina
ReplyDeleteQuite an image. I like the colors.
ReplyDeleteA nice photo for SkyWatch Friday. As one who is always interested in what other people do, and looking for ideas, I think I found some here. I just have to remember it and at my age that is no small feat.
ReplyDeleteMy Skywatch Post
The colors go well together, good capture Sandy.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot!!
ReplyDeleteLovely picture and colour contrast. The Maltese cross on the building is interesting too.
ReplyDeleteStone masons leave us so much to admire.
Great contrast in colour Sandy.
ReplyDeleteCool capture. :)
ReplyDeleteThose seem strangely militaristic symbols? I wonder are those Mayan?
ReplyDeleteI love the shapes and colors in your photo. Awesome! I like your Wordless Wednesday, too.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that simply wonderful! Such time and effort they used to put into structures! Such a shame they don't!
ReplyDeleteThe lines and colours are wonderful. The light ocre, green and blue are so appealing.
ReplyDeletePerfect sky backdrop there! I love the details in many older buildings!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you shot this Sandy. The colors are so great together.

ReplyDeleteMy SWK
That copper fixture is very nice!
ReplyDeleteOne of those images when only full blown colour will do. The curves and colours really do compliment each other.
ReplyDeleteYou have the eye for spotting what goes together and the skill to make it work. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAlmost looks erie. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteLovely architecture!
ReplyDeleteI also like the architecture. Excellent shot!
ReplyDeleteGreat detail in the old building! Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteNice building against so blue sky. Beautiful
ReplyDeleteThe picture is beautiful, but it doesn't look natural. It seem molded somehow. Could be my old tired eyes playing tricks on me.
ReplyDeleteI dare say, you do have an eye for details.
Great picture. I take it they removed the pyramid with the eye above :-)
ReplyDeleteNice detail on the temple.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very original SWF post.
ReplyDeleteI like the lines and the contrasting colours.
Great choice, have a good weekend!
As an art student we used ColorAid paper .. and when you'd fan out the sheets the various colors would play off one another .. this reminds of that .. so nice!
ReplyDeleteI love entries about architectural detail - this is great!
ReplyDeleteWonderful contrast, I love architectural angles against a blue sky
ReplyDeleteI love walking around seeing things one doesn't usually notice when in a car because one is usually in a hurry to get some place. The details are a pleasure to view. We have some very old buildings here -- more than 100 years old anyway and I love looking up to see the "artwork" too! You have a lovely blue sky --we had that last Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteWow ... this looked like a painting at first glance! What a marvelous capture ;--)
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Thanks for being here.
