When the snow started on Saturday afternoon, I decided to go for a walk and wondered, "Do I take the camera?" At first, I thought I'd leave it behind, thinking I've taken these photos before. Then I changed my mind. Looking for the picture helps me see the same old things in new ways. The snow was falling at a 45-degree angle, and I had to keep my eyes down for a good while. I noticed this fern that had managed to rise to the surface of the last storm, and I liked it very much.

Having my camera with me makes me look at things differently too. Sometmes even when I am not in the opportunity to take the picture like when I am driving my car. Just thinking about it, considering wether to stop and take a picture, looking for the angle in case I did stop... and when I can't then afterwards I just have the picture in my head.

Always take your camera . . . just in case. The opportunity may never come again. Both shots are terrific but I am partial to the one with shadows. . .
ReplyDeleteThey remind me of hot peppers, which reminds me of salsa, and that reminds me of the pile of tacos Lacy and I plowed through last night. But she is NOT allowed any hot peppers. Not when we are both sleeping in the trailer's small bedroom.

Shadow shots always make me think of the light and dark in the world --that is just one of the the things we want our photos to do is make people think or smile or act

Looking at the same things in different ways; so obvious a statement, yet so easily forgotten. I will try to apply that logic more.

ReplyDeleteI love the contrast in the two shots. I love the lighting use in both of the shots. In the first it is stark and harsh, and in the second even though it is in the snow you can feel the warmth of the sun.
