This is a reflected sky view I came across one warm day on Topsail Island, North Carolina, last August. There is an osprey nest in the right of the photo.
That's a beautiful reflection and I love the grasses too.
When I was in my teens and a young adult there was a lot of land at the point on Topsail which was exclusively "owned" by the birds that nested there. It was hard certain times of year to even walk on that part of the island (where sound and ocean meet) because the birds would really fly at you as if to say this is our breeding area, leave!
It was so sad when developers were allowed to build condominiums and all the houses in that area which displaced so much of the birds breeding ground. They still have some, but only a fraction of what they used to have. Forgive me if I've told you about this before or if you were already aware of it.
What a beautiful picture! Perfect reflection of the summer sky! And the banks of the river are so lovely! Thank you for your visit and your comments! Happy SWF!
We had a beautiful warm sunny day here today. I am so ready for spring. The photo is lovely. The reflections give it a dreamy quality. Thanks for sharing.
Ah.... thanks so much Sandy; for the color and the reminder. Right now summer is definitely only a reflection in yesterday's photo but what a reflection!
I think I am dealing with winter alright then I see something like this and my heart absolutely leaps and then I wonder when I can see something like this in person. Sigh~~ This is beautiful.
Very beautiful photo and I love the reflection of the nest in the water. Have a nice weekend. My weekend will be busy preparing and welcoming for the Chinese New Year on 26th January 2009. :)
I've enjoyed the mix of summer and winter photos this week, but I am partial to the warmth in the summer ones. Great capture, getting that nest so clear in the reflection.
Sandy, this is the kind of photo I have tried to take: a sky reflected in water, but somehow the water had not the right colour or the sky was too dull! Yours is perfect.
BTW the skater in the header is my daughter Thymeline. I saw you several times on her blog.
This gives me hope. We just returned home from Florida and it will takes days to warm the house up with the wood stove. So I guess we are paying some dues.
I tried to post a comment last night but your site wasn't working. I got to the site and clicked on comment and got a message that they couldn't find the place I was looking for. Glad it is working today.
The beautiful sky reflection is just super! It is a neat site to see during this time of winter when we often don't get such a view. The osprey nest is an added bonus!
It conjures up lazier days of childhood, running outside barefoot. Or lying in the soft grass and looking up. Or falling asleep while reading a book in the shade. Wonderful, wonderful image!
Love the contrast of the sharpe green grass with the glassy blue water and white puffy clouds. It is a photo to fall into and dream away your day (and your cold and snow!).
I think I first saw this at work, and must not have left a comment. I love the reflection of the sky on the water. This is one of the most beautiful I've seen!
