Over the weekend, I visited the Karma Triyana Dharmachakra in Woodstock, New York. This Tibetan Buddhist monastery at the top of a very long hill is very beautiful. The woman who walked a group of us through the shrine room said that the colors of the room reflected the Buddhist belief that our minds are beautiful and rich in color.

The colours in the 2nd and 3rd shots are simply startling!
ReplyDeleteA fascinating post! I have only visited one Buddhist temple south of Sydney, MSW, Australia! I still remember the incredible serenity there wandering beautiful, harmonic gardens and climbing lots and lots of steps to the various levels of the temple!
It just so happens that I walked past the Buddhist temple in my village, when I was on my way to the bakery this morning!
ReplyDeleteI've never visited it before, but maybe I should! Richard Gere did, a couple of months ago, so I think I'm really missing out on something!
Gorgeous pictures again this week Sandy, very inpiring!
Very nice and colorful. Beautiful pictures as always :-)
ReplyDeleteThe colours are very beautiful you are very lucky to see this!

Have a super blessed Sunday!!
The vibrant colors are impressionable and stunning. Beautiful! I would love to visit a Buddhist temple sometime.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Yes, I believe that as well. Our minds are incredibly creative if we simply utilize that creativity. Wonderful and a lot of wisdom there.
ReplyDeleteah woodstock and a buddhist temple, an appropriate combination...i remember the hippie era. my then husband became a hippie which lead to other interesting experiences and a divorce...love the photos.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful!!!! I never imagined that a Buddhist temple was quite so vibrantly colored.
ReplyDeleteThe images are fascinating in and off themselves, but what immediately came to mind is the contrast of the Buddhist Temples and my concept of the Catskills. Interesting.
ReplyDeletewow - that is bright and beautiful; the one we visited was well worn; these are brilliant shots
ReplyDeleteSandy, such bright and beautiful colors! Must have been a lovely visit! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. It looks like a serene spot. Woodstock is about two hours from me. If I ever left the house, this would be on my list of places to visit.
ReplyDeleteAnd I believe that to be true..I cannot live without colour, for it makes me happy :)
ReplyDeleteI will share with you a special experience I had last week...
My hubbie and I were celebrating our Ruby Weddding Anniversary. We went to church on the Sunday...and the first hymn was our wedding hymn...from 40 years ago :)
I felt as if God was saying to us, 'I remember you made your vows before me 40 years ago...and I have not forgotten you'
The hymn was 'The King of Love my Shepherd is' :)
Sandy,
ReplyDeletethese are very interesting and fine images. I've never visited a Buddhist Temple.
Thanks for your hospitality of my reflections about Lourdes, hope you appreciated; of course I will put a post of that argument on my blog too.
Have a nice week ahead.
I can not resist not to say - great - brilliant display of rich treasures - fantastic .... I want you all the best

ReplyDeleteNeat! Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteWow! Gorgeous colors!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and rich colours indeed.
ReplyDeleteI would have loved to have been on that trip. If we keep beautiful colours (like our thoughts) in our minds, it can only be a good thing don't you think???
ReplyDeleteI studied Tibetan Buddhism for a few years and found it quite peaceful and logical. The beauty of their buildings and people is amazing.
ReplyDeletePeace - D
What a beautiful shrine Sandy and I love how it reflects the Buddhist belief that our minds are beautiful and rich.
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice thought... whatever else I might have wrong, at least I have a rich and colorful mind.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great weekend.
Such spectacular colors in this buddhist temple!
ReplyDeleteThat is quite majestically golden :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, colourful temple! A lot can be learnt in such a serene environment.
ReplyDeleteI like that thought our minds are beautiful and rich in color-- which reminds me of the question how is it that some dream only in black and white and what if any sinifigance does that have
ReplyDeleteWell... your mind is certainly beautiful and rich in color... that's for dang sure!
ReplyDeleteSomehow I expected a Buddhist temple to be more restful. I was really surprised at how vibrant they are. There is a Buddhist temple a block away from my sister's home, and that was one of the first things we noticed. Theya re truly beautiful!
once again sandy, your pictures and comments are so amazing!
