What is myth
But Truth in her best clothes
Her jewels and eyes full of
Morning and moon
All at once
Stars dripping
From her fingers
Into your eyes
As she opens
Her arms wide
Pulls you close to her heart
Where her
Undecorated
Story lives.
Be embraced
Feel the beat of her heart.

A splendid poem with a fine image.
ReplyDeleteTruth as a myth? Now that is interesting...
ReplyDeleteThis is a very lovely poem with a photo to give it that extra magic.
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet and magical! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteUndecorated story - what a beautiful image for "truth".
ReplyDeleteWonderfully described. The clothing dresses her in mystery.
ReplyDeleteI wish the truth always looked as beautiful as you have so wonderfully described it.
ReplyDeleteThank You for an excellent poem.
I love how you dressed Truth in moon and stars! Allegory and Myth are usually prettier than naked Truth! Stars dripping from her fingers is a lovely visual!
ReplyDeleteI love the lines "but truth in her best clothes" and "where her undecorated story lives." They both capture the essence of myth.
ReplyDeleteP.S. You look great in your new pic!
Oh just wonderful Sandy! Love your take on myth and your cemetery angel photo! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is the lure of hope and fantasy intertwined that pulls us in and allows our imaginations to soar to unbelievable heights. Your words are lovely as is the statue also.
ReplyDeleteYour poem is very beautiful! I enjoyed reading it out loud. Wonderful picture too!

ReplyDeleteVery nice poem Sandy. I am assuming it is an original in the absence of any statement to the contrary. I always enjoy your blog. Pappy
ReplyDeleteI like this Sandy!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo and poem. I particularly like this section of the poem:
ReplyDelete"As she opens
Her arms wide
Pulls you close to her heart
Where her
Undecorated
Story lives."

ReplyDelete...sorry...I am not so "annonymously", Ric
ReplyDeleteOh did you write that?! Hoe neat and perfectly matched to the photo.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful poem. I could come up with nothing this week. This is just a lovely poem. "Truth in her best clothes" is a gorgeous line (and true as well, I think).
ReplyDeleteThis is my poem--thanks for asking! The statue stands at Riverside Cemetery in Waterbury, Connecticut. There are many mythical figures there. All capture the essential beauty of the human spirit. I love the place.
ReplyDeleteWonderful poem, Sandy. I loved that her heart is "Where her / Undecorated / Story lives." No embellishment, the story itself being enough. Brilliant!
ReplyDeletePeace - D
It is just gorgeously and powerfully written Sandy! I just love it.
ReplyDeleteInteresting take on the prompt - nice work!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful words, Sandy.
ReplyDeleteYour first lines are wonderful. Truth does lie within our myths and stories. Nice poem.
ReplyDeleteSandy, such imagery! I soaked this up. Thank you.
ReplyDeletewhat is myth but truth in her best clothes... feel the beat of her heart... amen...
ReplyDeleteI like that line, Where her
ReplyDelete/Undecorated/Story lives. That's a lovely turn of phrase. :)
Very nice! It reminds me a bit of other people's words on the Divine Feminine.
ReplyDeleteone persons myth is always another persons truth, and vice versa!
ReplyDeleteThanks for being here.
