This is a Coors poster behind a 9/11 memorial painted on a package store window in Thomaston, Connecticut. The window seems to me a metaphor of how we remember as well as how we forget.
Sandy, you will be one of the first invited to spend time at our condo in Florida where we will all go around in flip-flops. And you will have a bed of your own - no park bench! I look forward to your make a wish meme! :D
Hi Sandy. Some of those beer signs and commercials are most interesting and/or amusing. I hadn't seen this one. I remember when there was no Coors Beer for our part of Texas nor for New Hampshire. Happy WW/WT! Please visit me today or tomorrow (thanks), it's none of my business, but I have an 'affliction for' flip-flops and people wearing them. Maybe you could explain the Teach's remark. ..
I love how that thought occurred to you just by seeing the poster behind the painting. You couldn't be more right, about how part of us remembers and part of us forgets.
Very good shot. Interesting. I can't imagine that day ever being forgotten by me. I think about that day at least a couple times a week. I am still affected by what I saw, what I heard and how it changed my view on the world and my leaders.
Stephanie, No I wasn't suggesting commercialism interferes with memory but that time and the quotidian and perhaps a desire to be free of it effect it.
I'm often stunned at how quickly something so horrific can be forgotten. Many people recall 9-11 much like a box-office movie rather than a life-altering event.
cool photo! happy WW! Thanks for stopping by my site, even of my photo was acting funny - I can see it now, so I am not sure what the problem was last night! :)
This looks very three dimensional. Signs mean a lot to us. they guide us, make us stop and think, puzzle us, have hidden meanings and sometimes lead us back down Memory Lane :)
Great photo. We can never forget 9/11 - it was a terrible tragedy and will be etched on our minds and hearts forever. The image Coors have chosen is certainly thought-provoking.
Oh, how could anyone forget the tragic thing that has happened in 9/11. I hope no one does. Thanks Sandy for sharing this. I hope you don't mind that I placed you in my blogroll. God bless!

thanks for dropping by my site. what a nice photo you have. It would be a great tribute to the fire fighter heros on 911.
ReplyDeleteWith GOD'S help the day will never be forgoten.
ReplyDeleteYou're right--it is the perfect metaphor for memory!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot and great message in your words, Sandy.

ReplyDeleteHi Sandy! Thank you for visiting my ww. You always seem to make sure you stop by my place and I really appreciate that.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that some have let the memory of 9/11 fade away. I know I will never forget...ever.
I'm not familiar with Coors but upon reading some comments, I found out it is a beer brand. (Hope I'm not mistaken.)
ReplyDeleteI feel strongly for the victims and their families of that tragic day. It's sad to think that the memory can just fade away.
I think that the memory of those lost souls on 9/11, will long be remembered from these sorts of things...
ReplyDeleteHave a great WW!
Very enigmatic. It asks the viewer to decipher it.
ReplyDeletewhat an interesting find! :)

WOW!!!! That leaves me speechless!
ReplyDeleteHow could anyone forget who was old enough to remember that time?
ReplyDeleteExcellent work this week, that was a very accurate observation.
ReplyDeleteHappy WW!
My post: "I believe I said no video games"
Very interesting imagery. Food for thought, no doubt.
ReplyDeleteThe poster may be promoting a certain brand of beer, but the message is thought-provoking. I may not be American but I share the sentiments.
ReplyDeleteThats awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteVery good shot. Interesting. I can't imagine that day ever being forgotten by me. I think about that day at least a couple times a week. I am still affected by what I saw, what I heard and how it changed my view on the world and my leaders.

That is a really neat painting...I agree that it looks real!
ReplyDeleteVery impressive photo.
ReplyDeletePwerful statement indeed! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHappy WW!
Interesting image, and statement.
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting, but it kind of bugs me.
ReplyDeleteIt almost looks like it says "Remember Coors" instead. In your caption, were you hinting at commercialism eclipsing what we really should remember?
ReplyDeleteMy WW post is up, if you'd like to stop by.
This was a very intuitive post. Happy WW!
ReplyDelete9/11 is something no one should forget ... ever!
ReplyDeleteYou are very right about remembering and forgetting. Just like here in our country. Most people are amnestic.
ReplyDeleteWhat a powerful painting to remind us of the 9/11. Happy WW!
ReplyDeleteStephanie,
ReplyDeleteNo I wasn't suggesting commercialism interferes with memory but that time and the quotidian and perhaps a desire to be free of it effect it.
Beautiful and the words you used describing it is just powerful!
ReplyDeleteThe person that did that is very creative.
ReplyDeleteNicely said...and beautifully taken!
ReplyDeleteYou are right that image is powerful.
ReplyDeleteVery special !!
ReplyDeleteWow, how beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIf you drink enough Coors you'll forget everything!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, though, great image with a message.
I'm often stunned at how quickly something so horrific can be forgotten. Many people recall 9-11 much like a box-office movie rather than a life-altering event.
ReplyDeleteSad. We should not forget.
ReplyDeleteMakes me think, and wonder. This is a great photo Sandy.
ReplyDeleteSymbol or expression? It's beautifully done. And the message is clear.
ReplyDeleteHappy ww!
cool photo! happy WW!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my site, even of my photo was acting funny - I can see it now, so I am not sure what the problem was last night! :)
Just beautiful. Interesting to look at. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteRather odd to use a beer can, but moving just the same :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteLet's open up a can of remembrance? Funny that something that can make you not sober is used to remind you to be sober.
ReplyDeleteYes, a metaphor indeed.
ReplyDeleteVery very profound!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looked like it was made from the beer cartons at first glance.
ReplyDeleteI've got something for you at my blog. Come pick it up!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture Sandy!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool! Thanks for sharing it and as always thanks for stopping by for WW. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteWow. This is quite someth'n. Beautiful. Happy WW and thx so much for visiting :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks very three dimensional. Signs mean a lot to us. they guide us, make us stop and think, puzzle us, have hidden meanings and sometimes lead us back down Memory Lane :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing catch. I wonder how many people see it everyday, without really seeing the juxtoposition?
ReplyDeleteIt's very interesting to look at. I wonder what the significance of that four leaf clover is, or am I imagining it?
ReplyDeleteHappy WW :-)

I will always remember that day and try to teach my kids about the tragedy that made the world sad.
ReplyDeleteI work very hard at not forgetting. Every 9/11 I light a candle on my porch, just to remember.
