Parallel lives: A matter of chance And time and space Of course That I stand here And you, there Never intersecting Never meeting On some distant horizon In some distant future I have to remind myself To notice you. But look at us: I could be you And you, me So close, so alike So alone It is a matter of chance It is all the same I am you, You are me
No idea if you're into the meme games or not, but if ya wanna play, come on by. You're in my blogroll, so you automatically get tagged. Don't have to, of course, but it could be fun...Come by if you can and we'll have a cup'a joe or someth'n someth'n.
Did you write that poem? I really enjoyed that. I love birch trees at any time, but especially against the blue of the sky. So striking. The photo and the poem were made for each other.
The birch is really a marvelous tree, isn't it? I especially liked Wednesday's. Are these limbs or trunks? Being parallel, they gave me the impression of how I might see tree trunks as I lay upon the grass below.
Wow...did you write that poem? May I use it with proper attributes on my site -- I want to add it to a post I recently wrote on poverty and children. It makes such an important point and impact.
I like the way that the last two lines take the poem in a different direction, from parallel and never intersecting to "we are the same." Nicely done as always--and thought provoking. We are individuals ... and yet the same. A spiritual stumbling block for some, but it makes me think of a song by Peter Yarrow called "River of Jordan."
