Cold comfort, this:
Snow slides down to the berries,
Slips like rain to earth's muddy core.
Snow fall feeds earth the taste of spring
Silently and secretly, each droplet
Scented with the ripe fruit of summer, the
Secret burn of autumn's cold fire--a
Single drop, a cold comfort.
Snow slides down to the berries.

Pretty! I have some very similar pictures on my flickr account, taken of our crabapple tree after a freezing rain.
