Our World Tuesday: The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze

On Friday night, we stepped into the Halloween season at the Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze at Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-on-Hudson, New York.  The 5,000 pumpkins carved into flowers, butterflies, spiders, aliens, zombies, a spider web, a grandfather clock, and ghouls galore.
The ghouls were pretty spectacular.  Frankenstein was pretty convincing.

This guy doesn't play, I'm sure.
This guy just wanted out, though his buddy in the background was dancing up a storm.
These girls were doing their Halloween thing
As the evening wore on.

    This display is a work of art. Can't imagine how long it took to do all this carving. They must have an army of artists working for them.

    That's quite an impressive display of things Halloween! As for the river, I believe it is "Mo-NOC-a-cy", a Shawnee word meaning river of many bends. It begins near the PA border and flows through Frederick County to the Potomac. Numerous creeks flow from Catoctin Mountain into the creek, making the greenery you saw on your trips through the area.

    (Sandy, thanks for your comment re your uncle's death. It helped me much. I felt a little weird calling family to see m-i-l and then watching her get better. I know she'll go when she's ready and I may not read the signs correctly, but I'll be there for her.)
