Keep Shell Out of the Arctic

Keep Shell Out of the Arctic!: Thank You - Take Action!: NRDC's Save BioGems
President Obama supports Arctic drilling. I want to puke. I can sleep in on election day this year because neither slug running for office will be worth the time it would take to vote. I didn't expect beans on the environment from a Republican candidate, but I did expect more from a Democrat. Silly me.

  1. One thing I love about Canada is there still is a party called the New Democratic Party that pretty much fulfils all I believe a party should stand for. Last year the head of the party died of cancer. It was a huge blow. I actually cried when he died because he was such an amazing man.
It is so hard when the people have so little faith in those who lead us. Politics has become about personal agendas and not about finding what the people want. What can we do? I guess I look at the lyrics to the song, "Everyone is Free to Wear Sunscreen". It gives the insurmountable truths in life and one is politicians will always be corrupt.

This kind of thing is what gives America such a bad name here in Europe.

  4. In Canada people cannot afford to heat their homes. Especially old people. Our NDP and Liberal Parties like to spend and pressure groups object to all sources of bringing some money into the country but want more and more hand outs.So Harper has no choice in the matter.
The thing with the oil sands is that no one wants it but the Russians have planted their flag under our arctic and they will destroy it as they have destroyed all their own lakes and rivers. They will dig for oil whether we do or not.China is sitting on our backs. Korea. All these places will dig if we don't
So the whole scenario is pitiful.
Should we go to war over this, more damage will be done to this prestine place.
The animals are coming down now to places like North Van and Whistler.
More and More people are being attacked by bears.
It's nice to blame our governments but it's like they said, we need oil as well.If it is our oil why give it away. I personally hate the thought of oil tankers here.
I agree. It makes one want to puke.

  6. I think the facts get lost in the politics. I don't know the facts and the risks about drilling in the Arctic so I really can't evaluate it. I do know that some areas and some resources need to be untouched. I've worked around natural gas that was 23% hydrogen sulfide. In a leak people would have died before they hit the ground. That gas should be left untouched, maybe the Arctic oil should also. The best way of doing that is to not sell the leases to begin with. I don't see how the government can take Shell's money, and then tellShell not to drill.

The one fact I know is that world oil demand is 83 million barrels per day. That just staggers me it is so huge.
