Today's Flowers: Peonies

My parents' peonies are about to blossom. It's great to watch them loosen up under the sun as the days grown longer and warmer. After a recent heat wave, we've had the pure pleasure of low humidity, vivid blue skies, and breezes that have kept the pollen flying about and the vivacity of spring going on. In Connecticut, we've escaped the extremes of weather that have taken lives and left people homeless and facing an uncertain future. Ours is a sheltered world, somehow.

Wishing you a delightful Sunday.

  1. The Peonies certainly are fantastic this year. Hope a big rain doesn't come and ruin them.

  7. Gorgeous flower and superb capture! Seeing all the nightmare storms and weather over so much of the country, I'm embarrassed by the fact I whine so about gray skies and rain. It is beautiful here today with cloudless blue skies that I can so enjoy just sitting here at my desk. And I do give thanks for all of the beauty in my life. Your gentle reminders are greatly appreciated, Sandy! Have a beautiful day!

  11. The peonies are gorgeous. I could use a shot of that cooler weather. It was 99 here yesterday. UGH... Cooler today though, only in the 80's. Someone forgot to tell the weather man that it is just June. We shouldn't have this hot weather yet.

  14. Sandy, these peony buds are beautiful. And peonies are not easy to photograph, either, with the soft iridescence of the petals so hard to capture. We are lucky here in Seattle, also, to be spared the weather extremes lately.

  20. I like their tight little blooms and how they slowly unfurl into perfection. And then there is that scent, unforgettable, and never bottled.

Lovely reminders here Sandy, we had these in our yard when I was a kid.

    Hugs my friend, G

And yes, it is hard to wrap ones' mine around all that is occurring around the world. So much anguish and pain and destruction.
