Thinking of when I will next be on Topsail Island, I found myself looking back at the photos I took in April. These folks create an illusion of August in their swimsuits!
It seems to me black and white photography intensifies the heat and light of beach photos. It also makes the sky disappear. This flat and easy dream world of summer appeals to me.

Now that's where I'd love to be at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI really like the black & white, Sandy. Do you dream in black & white? :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE black & white photos. There are so many instances where it actually makes a more interesting/better photo than the original color.
ReplyDeleteBet that water was COLD!
Love your black and white shots and, yes, I would love to be there this minute, too! Have a great day, Sandy!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
remember the days of black and white tv? then came color tv-what a change. Now you see ads with part black and white and part color. Interesting effects.
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful shot. It must have been a lot warmer in Topsail in April than it was in the part of NC where I live.
ReplyDeleteWe had similar ideas this week. I'm going to the NC coast in about a month but my blog was ready for a change of scenery so I posted past beach shots. I may even make it to Topsail. That's not where I'll be but one of my closest friends will be at Topsail when I'm at Atlantic Beach so I'll probably either make it to Topsail or she'll zip over to Atlantic beach.
B&W photos reminds me of my childhood. It was always such a treat to have a photograph of anything because it was unusual to have. Not like this day and age of having EVERYTHING on video much less than color photos.
ReplyDeletepeaceful scene, Sandy
ReplyDeletelove it

Lovely scenery!!!
ReplyDeleteThe black and white photos remind me of my early childhood vacations at the beach. Those days were simple and lovely. We need that sometimes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos to warm up the chilly days here. Love the scene. Great captures.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
I love b/w photos. Removing the color, lets the viewer use their own imagination to fill in the scene. These are wonderful shots.
ReplyDeleteYou always have a refreshing way of looking at things. Your photos make we want a beach vacation. Not in the Gulf of Mexico where we usually go, not this year.
ReplyDeleteI do like the dreamy, timeless feel of these B&W photos. April? Must've been cold in those swimsuits!
ReplyDeleteSandy: Interesting view of the beach in B&W.
ReplyDeletenice b&w lesson. I see it!

ReplyDeleteAh yes, looks like a place I'd like very much. I like the B&W treatment.
ReplyDeleteI love black and white photos. The sparkles in the first are so jewel like and I love the contrast between the straight line of the walkway against the frilly almost lace like waves.
