My World Tuesday: Nighty-Night, Woodbury

I was out walking around the green in Woodbury, Connecticut, and experimenting with nighttime exposures and coming up with all kinds of grainy stuff a few weeks ago. The first two capture the gazebo, which is in terrible condition. The third is the Canfield Corners Pharmacy, and the fourth is a beaten-up and swollen old baseball left in the grass.

These shots make me think of how the world looks after a dose of NyQuil. Oh well! Sleep tight my friends.

  2. Can I just say I love the baseball. Don't ask me why, I just do. But I only get the NyQuil effect from the weather vane shot. Maybe I'm taking too much of it huh?

  9. Excellent pictures, taken with a tripod I suppose. The night exposures are very long, sometimes several seconds. Very nice the flowers in the darkness and the old baseball which seems to speak to us.

  12. Great shots Sandy. I love the baseball. They are all good but that one gets me for some reason. Take care and never worry about visiting when you're busy. I appreciated your comment on my flowers but totally understand there isn't always time for blog hopping.

  16. That's such a hard time of day to take a good photo; then if it comes out right it often loses that twilight feel. I love the job you did with these, every one! Somehow I feel more relaxed now, after my evening walk...

  23. I'm all for experimenting with the camera. Often the most interesting images are the ones just having fun. The baseball all worn and torn just tool me back to my youth. Different game, but same long hot summer nights.

  39. Sandy, I think all your night night photos are very special and beautiful. First I thought the veranda with the daylilies is my favourite, but than I had a look again and thought they all merit the same great artistery with the camera. Well done.

  41. wonderfully clever and enjoyable

  42. The point and shoot cameras get very grainy at 800-1600 ISO, the SLR's are much better at nightime photography.
But you got some great night shots - improving all the time, huh?

  43. These random shots have such a dreamy quality--especially the drug store. I love that time of day you've captured so well.

  47. Lovely to see your evening walk photos! I tend to leave my camera at home on Molly's last walk of the day, but perhaps I'll rethink that? I've shared a bit of My World today at Sacred Ruminations.

  59. Sandy,
I like these night photos very much - of course your eye for composition always shines through. It makes me want to do some of my own. (Though I don't want to be wandering around too late or I'll encounter the bear...the moose...the lion!)
