One Single Impression: Intersections

Shall we dance
At the crossroads?
Or should I say
Shall we dance
At this crossroad
Now
And no worries

I don't need promises
Don't need another time
Don't need you to stay
Too long

What I mean is this:
Dance with me
Now

Our paths cross here
Our ways are one way
And we are here
Now

Keep time with me
Move with me
Touch me
Now

And no worries.

  1. So fine poem, Sandy. It's really true: to live the present, joyfully, light-heartedly, serenely.

  5. This is a nice poem indeed Sandy..

It reminded me of something completely different though, something rather sad and gruesome. In England many many years ago if you danced at the cross-roads it was more that likely you'd be dangling from the end of a rope or in a 'Gibbet'. It was done at crossroads for two reasons... more people could see the results expected by doing bad deeds. The other reason is very sad. It was thought the souls of the ungodly dead would not know which road to take to heaven.

I hope you don't mind the contents of this comment Sandy... if you do please remove.

  7. I love love love the thought of celebrating every meeting and every moment joyfully--no matter that the next moment may take us down different roads.

Years ago, the Falls Road in Belfast was overshadowed by a huge RUC barracks and watchtower. I won't go on about the misery it caused, but as part of the peace process it came down, finally. While the rubble was cleared away, people struggled with how to deal with it, how to replace it: a monument to its victims perhaps, or what? The answer was a huge ceilidh (Irish dance) there, where it had overlooked the crossroads. It was an AMAZING day and night, such joy, such a celebration of a turn we could all make in our lives now that this horror had gone. A symbolic crossroads celebrated on a real one; magic.

I'll send the link to this to others who were there that day--thanks Sandy!

  13. interesting poem and photo. reminds of the book dance of anger. A very read about how if we don't do/dance our part the others can't continue with their angry dance. food for thought...
