Perfect as the wing of a bird may be,
it will never enable the bird to fly
if unsupported by the air.

(Ivan Pavlov)

This week's blessing: the help of friends and family. I've come to a fork in the road and have needed the insights of the people I trust as I make my way forward. Good people that they are, my friends and family have offered me what they know, what they have seen happen, and what they think. They have made gifts of their caring and wisdom, leaving them at the table for me to make of what I will. They can't live my life; they can only help me live mine as well as possible.

They let me do that with a few careful words and just enough time and distance for me to make of them what I can and will.

Being loved is a beautiful thing; so is loving back. And oh, so necessary.

Hold on to what is good even if it is a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe even if it is a tree which stands by itself.

Hold on to what you must do even if it is a long way from here.

Hold on to life even when it is easier letting go.

Hold on to my hand even when I have gone away from you.

(Pueblo Blessing)

  1. Looking back, I can see that some of the worst things that happened to me, are the things I remember as being the best things that happened to me---if only for bringing my family round me and showing me how true my real friends were.

Whatever you're going through, good luck; you've got my prayers. Thank you for sharing all your fabulous photos and quotes and insights.

  6. And the blessings continue to pour out to you.

You've brought great insight and serenity to many of us. What a gift you have been!

Know that you are thought about, prayed for, and that there are so many of us who care deeply about you and that would lift you over the hurdle that lies in your path if we could.

May God's peace continue to be yours, Sandy.

Robert Frost taught the value of the fork in the road:

    The Road Not Taken, 1920

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
    Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Traveller.
