My daughter and I have had the great opportunity this month to visit my parents a couple of times a week and to swim after I work. Dad says the door is always open; it always is. I love to swim laps while Della plays hard with my folks in the water. It doesn't get better than that for me and my gal. He and I take turns forgetting the name of this flower in his garden. Before I forget again: it's a clematis!

ReplyDeleteYou are always so good at finding (and recalling) names of flowers, poets, authors, artists. I am truly impressed. Me? I make it up as I go along; today it is a purple flower as well - I am calling it a purple cascade (shortened from "purple-cascade-aligned-thingie")

ReplyDeleteThat's great to be able to spend time at your parents and swim. Clemantis is a favorite of mine. I used to have 4 different varieties (including one that looked similar to that one). I had mine over a period of 15 years (die back to stem in winter and come back in the spring). One by one mine were lost to various weather issues. It was a treat for me to see your parent's clematis. I'll have to look at my old photo archives and see if my deep purple one really was the same as that one. I didn't have a very good camera when I took most of the shots of mine climbing up the green house but I got some ok shots.
ReplyDeleteI was going to ask if it's a Clematis but then you wrote your own reminder. I love those! My mom has Wisteria and I never can remember its name (in fact I asked hubby before I wrote that), I always want to call it Hibiscus, and as you know those are way different.

Well, Sandy, I do think I've met your hubby "Jump Back." Don't ask me how I fell across his blog but there was a casual, bearded, handsome man leaning on a chair back, maybe, and talking about The Sunflower. You know I've not mentioned this but I taught that book to my classes (most of whom are educated, retired Jewish ladies). We discussed "forgiveness" of course and "redemption" which isn't a concept that the ladies in my classes were entirely familiar with nor were they interested in offering it to the Nazis who perpetrated the Holocaust. Redemption, while not a completely Christian idea, speaks maybe to us who were brought up Christian. But it leaves something to be desired to some Jews, or at least to some of the ladies in my class with whom I discussed this wonderful book. :)

I love visiting my parents. Even though I've grown much older, they still treat me like a kid. It's great to have them around.

I have several clematis growing on trellis on my patio, next to them I have honeysuckle, they fill the afternoon air with such a wonderful fragrance. When you come over to eat at my sons restaurant, we will spend the rest of the afternoon sat on the patio smelling and enjoying the flowers. Glass of wine or will it be a cup of tea Sandy?
