Weekend Snapshot: Angels Around Us

Host unlimited photos at slide.com for FREE!

This the angel at the gate to the Lourdes Grotto in Litchfield, Connecticut. My husband and I stopped there for a walk while our daughter was at at Girl Scouts event at a nearby school. Though I am not Roman Catholic, I have come to appreciate the Stations of the Cross and the like as works of art, means of telling a story of faith, and a source of inspiration and comfort.

When I see angels it reminds me of innocent kids and the hope that you can get just by looking at them. Great shot!

  17. The smoothness of the stone / marble and the detail cut into it, especially those statues that were crafted before modern technology, are amazing.

This is an excellent shot showing that detail and the shadows cast almost give the angel "life".
    Great shot.

  36. My nephew was married in a Catholic Church last year. It was in a very old church. I took lots of photos of the church itself. I just loved the architecture, the stained glass and, of course, the statues.
