Ah, mementos. Special are the families that have such treasures to cherish and pass on from generation to generation. The stories and the people come to life that much more when there's something to look at and touch and relate with.
I've been doing a lot of clearing out recently. The next batch is stuff is going to be stuff with some memories but really no reason for keeping hold of like a puppet I made as a project at school. Digital photography means I can take loads of pictures of it and keep the memories without needing a storage box to keep it in anymore

I used to buy a lot of Granite from the quarry up there. Did you happen to see my friend's Chevy Nova? About 30 years ago we drove it way past where you are supposed to and it sank up to the doors in mud. We had to abandon it and had a long, long walk home. I don't think he ever got out of there.
I keep lots of my old stuff and I just can't bear to throw them away. They hold lots of my lovely memories. I know I have to one day because I'm running out of space.

Interesting title you gave this entry...as I get older, I realize that things must not remain "shelved"...I either enjoy them or give them to someone else who WILL enjoy them! There are, however, certain things we will keep and hang on to...just like "comfort food", they bring a sense of satisfaction to us!!!

You know, it wasn't until I saw your WW that I realized how focused on my kids I am because it never even occured to me to use anything but a picture of them...hmmm. Does that mean I smother them???
That is a lovely photo Sandy, and I imagine there are some interesting memories to go along with it. You know, it makes me want to write a story about it. Maybe a little later, after I finish the one I'm working on and the other two or three I'm thinking about.
I enjoyed the last couple of posts as well, especially the Mine Hill one.
Very creative shot. We like to bring home little keepsakes when we travel. I have been buying dolls. Our latest? The mannequin pis in Brussels, Belgium.
Ebay! Ebay! Kidding... Well, I'm not a doll person so I'm picturing a new pink blue tooth thingy for my cell phone. I wonder what I could dig up in my keepsakes? Lots of construction paper pictures.. hm... probably nothing as cool as your doll.
